Crater Lake ski and Idaho/Utah trip

Now partially vaccinated, Jenn and I already snuck in a couple of fun road trips this spring .

4/2-4 Crater Lake ski circumnavigate w/Jenn

Our first was a 2 night- 33 mile ski around Crater Lake in central Oregon. It had been a dream of each of ours before we had met. We chose to cross country ski around the lake clockwise like most parties do. It allows you to see the climax scenery sooner. And in general you have more downhill elevation along the way. The trip was surprisingly fun except for the fact that I forgot to bring my pad and a puffy jacket! Cross country skiing seems to be a good, low impact sport for my bum knee so I figure I’ll do more of that in the future. This really was a great trip and it didn’t disappoint from the standpoint of being one of my dreams from the far past. It went by so fast, we were a little bummed that it didn’t last longer. The fleeting sense of movement is very satisfying along this beautiful tour!

4-12 Black Rocks Boise, 4p 10+ w/Jenn

4-13  Stolen Chimney, Ancient Art 10+ 4p

4-14 Potash 6p to 10c

4-15 Optimator Wall 5p 10+/11

4-18 City of Rock 6p to 11a Corridor 25p trip

We came home for a week and then, split for Jenns first climbing trip to Utah. She really enjoyed the desert experience. We did Ancient Art, a great day at potash, and a stellar day at Optimator wall! Things were going great, then the rain hit us on our second day at Indian Creek. We immediately stopped climbing when the water started to soften up the rock like it does. It didn’t really dry out fast either. So we made off to the city of rocks to have a great day there! Quite a set of back to back mini vacations! I’m so lucky to have such a great partner/ wife!
